Cute Sign

I have been downtown so much over the last two weeks with dentist and Dr. appointments and every time I walk by this sign for Paul's Hat Works in the window of The Hound (on Sutter Street) it has caught my eye. I love the simplicity of it and of course the mustache! I may just have to go to this hat shop and check it out. Oh my goodness, I just went to their website and I must go to this shop at once, based solely on the cool girls that run the shop...oh how I wish I was more hip (but not hipster)!
PS - My dream job besides being a writer would be a milliner. I seriously looked into a couple classes for it last year. I super love hats and would love a chance to learn how to make them. Just the thought of wearing something fun and at times outlandish atop my head makes me feel like a kid on a swing set.

*{Fabulous Find}*

Who couldn't use an extra hand around the house?
I super love these and would put them in my bathroom or in my bedroom by my dresser.
You can get some for yourself at Viva Terra.

Easter Basket

Today, I got an Easter Basket (bag) from Miss Wendy. It was waiting on my desk for me when I got back from the Chiropractor this morning; what a nice surpise.

I must say...someone knows me very well. How cute is the star of the photo shoot? His plumage is killing me, hilarious!

Sunrise Deli

I super love Sunrise Deli. Angela introduced me and my Mom to this place a couple years back and I have been there a million times since with visits to the location in Berkeley sprinkled in between. This place has the best falafel in town - hands down. Ha! I just noticed it says that on their website too. On top of getting top notch Middle Eastern food here that is freshly made, they have a small grocery section at the back of the store as well some bakery items in their counter. Super friendly staff, fast service no frills deli and I love it! Next time you are in the Sunset check it out - on Irving Street between 22nd and 23rd Ave.

PS - Grab a half dozen on your way out the door - Tim and I decided they are like savory donuts - crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

BayLee's Bad Habit

BayLee has a bed in the living room and in the bedroom. I don't know if he is protesting for some reason or what is going on, but he has taken to sleeping next to his beds and not in/on them. Really?
Isn't it weird how his coloring looks different depending on where he is laying and the lighting? I love the second photo, so darn cute all wrapped up in a ball.

Tea and Flowers

With the Royal Wedding so close I can smell it, I have been obsessed with tea and flowers. Check out these beautiful arrangements I found on google images. My favorite...the lower right, those flowers are incredible.

Pocketbook Essentials

You know those things you just can't live without? The things that are always in your bag each and every day? I though I would share mine...I don't know about you, but I love when magazines ask celebrities what is in their bag and they dump it out, take a photo and have notes on each item. Instead of dumping my bag out, I thought I would make this little chart of all of the things I love to have with me in my bag each day.

1 - Stamps - you never know when you are going to have to send something in the mail (I love the mail).
2 - Eclipse peppermint gum - fresh breath is essential
3 - Moleskin reporter notebook - I love lists and always write down my wacky ideas
4 - Pilot V Ball Pen - I heard they are not making them anymore, very sad
5 - Quarters - just in case I have to feed the meter
6 - iPhone with Jonathan Adler case - I super love it!
7 - Rosebud Salve - if you have not tried it, you don't know what you're missing
8 - Purell Hand Sanitizer - do I need to explain?
9 - $2 Bill - they are so cool
10 - 2011 Pocket Calendar by Graphic Design - love this thing, I can't go 100% digital yet
11 - Jane Iredale Mineral Pressed Powder - best thing I ever got from my Dermatologist
12 - Buxom Lash Mascara - incredible wear, great applicator and no clumps!

What are your pocketbook essentials?

Crunchy Nut

Remember this post about my favorite cereal? Well...I was watching the tube the other night and there was a commercial for it! It is back to the good ole USA! They are marketing it as "new" however, I know that it is the old Honey Nut Cornflakes, it tastes the same. Apparently an article I read claims "Crunchy Nut" was invented in Manchester in the 1980's however, I know as a kid in the 80's I was eating a lot of Honey Nut Cornflakes - same product, different name. Either way, I am happy and I don't care how much sugar or crap is in it - I don't eat cereal often - as a matter a fact, I don't really care for breakfast, but I love this cereal. The only thing I have an issue with... On the UK/Euro box it says "...it's ludicrously tasty" on the US box it does not- are Americans not ready for a ludicrously tasty cereal? This American is!

PS - Maybe all of those letters I wrote to Kellogg's did make an impact!

Photo Shoot

My photography class is over - I learned a TON about shooting on manual and not using the auto button. I don't know if I am totally converted yet, but I am on my way. Pretty cool to know how to control the light, aperature, speed and white balance in all of my photos. It will take a lot of practice, but I like it a lot and having the ability to ajust and fine tune things is pretty neat.
Last weekend I was able to shoot a friend of mine after ballet class and it was pretty amazing. Some of the photos are a bit blurry as speed was covered this last week, but I think they are lovely and thought I would share a few.

Re-think Your Drink

Let me first say that I am BEAMING like a proud parent at the fact that one of my favorite people has been finally noticed by the media. Allow me to introduce you to Angela Asch, Greek Goddess and now local celeb!

Thoughts on Dog Clothes

At lunch today I saw a dog wearing bedazzled jeans and a cute pink top...really? Besides the bad hair day, I felt pretty good today until my navy blue shirt that, by the way, has been held captive in my closet during this horribly rainy and cold winter has waited ever so patiently for its coming out day was suddenly downplayed by a dog in denim!

Yeah, you read that right...a dog in denim! This dog had more style than I have in my pinky finger and my pinky finger is always in style whether drinking tea or throwing a baseball. I don't really get it, I mean do you think the other dogs that were out to lunch were looking at her wishing they had her style, her body, her looks? Were the boy dogs whistling at her? Ummm...I wouldn't know because it’s a dog whistle and humans can’t hear it unless you are one of those strange characters from the Twilight series but that is beside the point.

My final thoughts are, if you have a dog and plan on dressing it up on occasion please make sure those occasions are parties, dog only events and places where women like me won't be second guessing the jeans she's wearing.

I am interested...if you dress your dog, what message are you trying to convey? The below photo says to me, I dress ChiChi like a small child to hide the fact that she has a serious smoking addiction. PS - you are not hiding anything, ChiChi looks like smoker and we can see the evidence!

Fashionably Late

Elizabeth Taylor arranged it ahead of time that her funeral start 15 minutes late so she could be fashionably late to her own funeral. Genius. I am totally adding that to my funeral plans. What funeral plans you may ask...you can find them here in the comment section of this post on my friend Angela's blog.

Goodnight Elizabeth

February 27, 1932 – March 23, 2011

The first time I saw Elizabeth Taylor was when I was sitting with my Grandma Lemke in her backroom, we watched National Velvet. I remember it like it was yesterday, I was mezmerized. Since then I have seen the majority of her movies with a few left on my list. She is so breath taking, a true beauty and woman with courage and a cause (amfAR) which makes her even more incredible.
Did you know Elizabeth Taylor was the first woman to sign a movie contact for 1 million dollars? That was for the movie Cleopatra.
Elizabeth Taylor was one of the last of the great women actors from the golden age of cinema and will be missed. No one ever looked so good in a white slip if you ask me (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof).

Royal Wedding Tea

It's not too late to plan a Royal Wedding Tea Party! Yes, the wedding is on a Friday (4/29), but can you think of a better way to kick off your weekend? Take the day off and have fun!

I sent my invites out this week and am getting really excited for all of the old school tradition that comes along with a Royal event. My fear at this point is that my DVR craps out early in the morning on the 29th and we will have nothing to watch during the Tea but honestly, I can't go there. Now I am just waiting for airtimes and networks and finalizing my menu.
Here is a look at my invites...

Cutting Room Floor

My photography class started last week so this weekend was full of homework assignments which produced LOTS of photos...most of them left on the cutting room floor I have to admit. I am so used to taking photos on the auto setting and this class is all manual, so there is a bit of a learning curve and yes, there were tears (out of pure frustration). Here is a glimpse of my mistakes - getting the speed/f-stop ratio proved to be quite difficult for me, but I am getting it, slowly but surely. All I can do is keep practicing and see what happens.
PS - if there isn't a hair salon out there called "The Cutting Room" or "The Cutting Room Floor" there should be.
